I am being whipped into shape

to fit into a card board cut out of my former self
that used to be in bad shape
pushed, fractured, distorted
filling in for strangers
playing my part
portraying a second hand idea
excruciatingly acting as a first class
understudy of yesterdays expectations
in plastic shackles
blindfolded and tied
presented in a platinum cage
the dignified ass
too oblivious to run
too full to scream
and most certainly too well adjusted to provoke discomposure
